School-wide Reading Program

Reading Program Basics

Research studies show that the more you read, the better reader you become. Because reading is so important, at Sternberger, we expect all students to read (or be read to) at school and also outside of school for at least 20 minutes (K-2) or 30 minutes (3-5) most days during each month. To encourage this reading outside the regular school day, we have a school-wide reading incentive program.

Through our reading program, we also support the district's initiative, GCS Reads 30.

To learn more about the program, click on the How It Works 2025-2026 document link below.

Minutes read will be recorded by students, parents, or caregivers online in Beanstack.  Beanstack can be accessed by logging in to Clever.  All minutes must be recorded in Beanstack by the 5th of the month to count for the previous month's challenge.  (For example, September's minutes must be entered by October 5th to count toward the September challenge/student's goal.)

For more information about getting started with Beanstack, visit the Beanstack page on the library's website.
